Writing out a brand manifesto or ethos is one of the first steps of developing a brand. If it is authentic, resonates with the client and their audience, it is a powerful tool for winning an account and establishing the foundation for building a timeless brand. Here are a few I have written, or written and directed.

SPACE FLORIDA - We Are Go | writer + director

When I was the Creative Director for Paradise Advertising, we were pitching Space Florida and I wrote and produced a manifesto video edited and voiced by Charlie Diaz. The night we won the account, the client told me were not even in the running – and then they played the manifesto video. She said at that moment people in the room began to cry, and they realized we understood the mission.

ESPN - X Games Aspen Manifesto

I wrote teases, bumps, features and even full X Center shows for the X Games from 2000-2009. The production was reorganized in 2010 and I experienced a 10-year hiatus from the event that began my 26-year relationship with ESPN. Then in November 2019, I got a phone call from a friend and colleague from ESPN who was a PA at my first X Games. He was now the Director. He asked if I'd like to write the teases for X Games Aspen 2020. And of course I replied, "Brother, you know I am."

THINGS REMEMBERED - Everything’s Personal | writer + director

Our company, Zeh Arndt Creative, originally produced this for the client using borrowed footage. Once we were awarded the contract, we got to shoot and produce it for real. It aired nationally in its entirety during the rebrand launch.

ESPN + WHITEIRON x NBA - You Can’t Stop This | writer

The year ESPN inked a deal with the NBA, production companies throughout North America battled for a piece of the post produciton business. This piece I wrote helped my friends at Whiteiron land a fair amount of opens, features, and more.

ALBERTA FILM COMMISSION - Your Story. Our Place. | writer

You may be surprised by the number of films or scenes from films shot in Alberta. I was, and it inspired me to write this script inviting filmmakers around the world to come make more.

WINTER X GAMES - Soul Phonics | writer + producer

This wasn’t an official manifesto for the X Games, but it was one of the first teases I wrote for the X Games during my initial ten-year run. I challenged myself and beat poet, Sage Francis, to define what X and the X Games represented.

DAYTONA BEACH - Beachside Vibe | writer + director

I wrote and directed this 30-second homage to Florida's original 23-mile stretch of Americana a year after the original 90-second version helped land the account.

MOTE MARINE SCIENCE LABORATORY & AQUARIUM - Guardians of the Sea | writer + director

I wrote this manifesto shortly after I began working on this account in 2014, but we didn’t have the footage to turn it into a video. After a year of filming multiple documentaries about Mote’s research and conservation programs, we created this video for an annual fundraising event. It then lived on their website for about ten years. And the positioning, Guardians of the Sea, lives on today.

TEAM SEMINOLE - Arrived | writer + director

Sports has always been a big part of my family’s – our personal identities. So, writing and directing a series of brand films for Seminole County’s Sports Commission came naturally. For this one, we got to film inside historic Sanford Memorial Baseball Stadium where Jackie Robinson first began to break the color barrier.
