BRIAN ARNDT | DIRECTOR
I love great stories, and telling them.
Growing up in rural southeastern Michigan, I found my creative spark writing sci-fi and comedy stories inspired by life as one of the only non-farmers in a farming community. Summers were spent creating and performing old-time radio-style skits with my cousin, recorded on my grandma’s indestructible cassette player. And my first inspiration to become a filmmaker came from my grandma herself, who shot loosely scripted home movies and Hollywood parodies starring family members on her 8mm camera when I was just five.
At 25, as a copywriter at McCann Detroit, I witnessed my first national TV commercial come to life – a GMC holiday spot filmed in Toronto. That experience ignited my passion for directing. A few years and a major move later, I began directing and producing small-budget commercials for clients in Tampa Bay. My first big break came in 2001, co-directing a brand shoot in Calgary for ESPN’s Winter X Games.
Since then, I’ve evolved my skills, won some awards, learned something new with every project, and had the privilege of writing and directing commercials, promos, documentaries, short films, and branded content across a wide range of industries, genres, and budgets. Along the way, I’ve written hundreds of scripts for Hollywood actors, hip-hop legends, professional athletes, and even the legendary Don Ho. My approach to every project remains the same: create something compelling and rewarding for everyone involved – and tell a story that would make my grandma and five-year-old me smile.
WINTER 2024
ARCTIC WOLF | MANAGED SECURITY AWARENESS
CREATIVE + FILM DIRECTOR | LEAD WRITER | PRODUCER
In January 2021, Arctic Wolf acquired a cybersecurity awareness content company founded by colleagues of mine. Three months later, they asked me to help create and build an in-house content department for Arctic Wolf Managed Security Awareness. I agreed under two conditions: we would run the department like a network, and the content wouldn’t suck.
By the end of the first year, we were the only cybersecurity awareness team in the industry producing original content in four languages every month.
What started as a small team of four creating content in a converted conference room for a domestic audience of a very small, very confidential number viewers grew into a powerhouse team of 16 creative and production professionals. Together, we produced world-class live-action and animated content featuring native-speaking actors in four languages every month for a global audience of a very large, very confidential number of viewers.
Under my leadership, the team created over 50 original series in four languages—several tailored to additional industry versions—and more than 100 internal and special-use videos. We even developed an original Magic the Gathering™-style card game called Security the Awareness™. Beyond content creation, I led the development of the Managed Security Awareness internal brand platform and all associated creative deliverables. In May 2022, I was promoted from a management role to director.
One year later, I joined a three-person advisory team tasked with designing strategic plans, new business models, and go-to-market strategies to drive growth for the business unit. By November 2024, I felt my mission at Arctic Wolf was complete and embraced the opportunity to return to the open market in search of new challenges.
Today, a very large, very confidential number of subscribers across North America, South America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand consume the original, engaging, and effective content I helped bring to life each month.
These are just a few of the original content series I wrote, directed, and produced with our incredible team.
THINGS REMEMBERED | FALL + HOLIDAY CONTENT
CREATIVE + FILM DIRECTOR | WRITER | POST-PRODUCER
Agency: Zeh Arndt Creative Director of Photographer: Dave Spataro Producer: Carol Matlock
“Everything’s Personal is a timeless brand campaign. We have to bring it back.”, Nelson Tejada / President Personalization Brands
In early 2020, the CEO of Things Remembered moved to Mrs. Fields, and hired us to create content and manage their social media. In the summer of 2024, he returned to Things Remembered and Personalization Mall, and brought us with him to reprise and relaunch “Everything’s Personal”. Our first assignment was creating the Fall and Holiday photography and video content for their website, social, digital ads, and catalogues. It was awesome reprising one of my favorite brand concepts.
My super talented friend and colleague, Dave Spataro, shot all these beautiful frames.
MONTAGE RESORTS + RESIDENCES | SERVICE CONTENT
PRODUCER | CO-DIRECTOR
Agency: United Landmark Associates Director: David Downing Creative Director: Stephanie Tisch Photographer: Roger Paperno DP: Graham White
One week in November 2024 I produced and co-directed luxury lifestyle video and photography productions in Los Cabos, Mexico at two different resorts for two different brands for two different future residential developments in the US. The biggest challenge and success was filming these very distinct environments in a way that did not instantly say Mexico or Pacific ocean. These are some initial photos from the Montage portion of the shoot.
VICEROY RESORTS + RESIDENCES | LIFESTYLE CONTENT
PRODUCER | CO-DIRECTOR

One week in November 2024, I produced and co-directed luxury lifestyle video and photography productions in Los Cabos, Mexico at two different resorts for two different brands for two different future residential developments in the US. The biggest challenge and success was creatively filming these very distinct environments in ways that did not instantly appear to have been filmed in Mexico nor on the shores of the Pacific ocean. These are some initial photos from the Viceroy portion of the shoot.
ESPN | NHL | SINCE 2000
WRITER / CONCEPTS + SCRIPTS
The NHL returned to ESPN following a long twenty-year hiatus. And so did the opportunity for me to write for a sport I used to play on a frozen pond as a kid from Michigan.
NHL PLAYOFFS OPEN
The goal is always to write a script that gets everyone fired up for the game ahead. The piece has to excite the casual hockey fan, connect on a visceral level with hockey, and make everyone in the sports bar hold their beers and watch. For me, getting Mark Messier's blessing on the script checked all those boxes.
2023 Penguins vs Bruins
Research can be one of the more frustrating or rewarding phases of the cResearch can be one of the most frustrating yet rewarding phases of the creative process. In the case of this David Attenborough parody, diving into the scientific facts of both the animal and human subjects proved to be profoundly rewarding.
ESPN | NBA | SINCE 2004
WRITER | DIRECTOR
True to form our team brought the intensity and realness to the NBA Finals that this historic season and finals deserved.
ESPN | NFL | SINCE 2000
WRITER | DIRECTOR
Was the final frame of our Super Bowl LV piece prophetic? Maybe. But the championship pegged to be the GOAT vs "the GOAT to be" proved to be much more than a two-man game.
THINGS REMEMBERED
CREATIVE + FILM DIRECTOR | WRITER | POST PRODUCER
Reinventing a classic American brand is a big responsibility, but creating branding that simultaneously states a unique selling proposition and makes a social statement is a once-in-a-company’s lifetime opportunity. The concept “Everything’s Personal” accomplishes that gutsy mission for Things Remembered. We filmed this brand film and additional videos for their national re-brand/re-launch campaign in various locations around St. Petersburg, Florida.
OLDIES BUT GROOVIES
SPACE FLORIDA
DIRECTOR | WRITER | POST
PRODUCER This is easily one of the coolest productions I've ever directed. We filmed in various locations around Cape Canaveral including an actual rocket assembly hanger and an active mission control. Countdown was one of a series of videos I wrote and directed for Paradise Advertising and Space Florida as part of the campaign “The Vacationauts”. This body of work won numbers national awards.
VISIT TAMPA BAY
DIRECTOR | WRITER | PRODUCER
Visit Tampa Bay, needed to refresh their area attractions video. We suggested telling the visual story of a real-life family hitting four different attractions in a single day. And to make it realistic, filming that family all in a single action-packed day in July. I still get leg cramps thinking about that shoot.
SPACE FLORIDA “We Are Go Manifesto”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
Whether we're talking about space research and development, exploration, travel or tourism, Florida is the birthplace of Space. And now more than ever their mission is a go for launch. This original manifesto piece helped Paradise win the business and continues to be a great generator of ideas. And goosebumps.
VISIT TAMPA BAY “Greybeard for Mayor”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
Greybeard the Business Pirate made his debut for Visit Tampa Bay in 2017 with a series of fake TEDTalks. The character and campaign was an instant success. Two years later, I was commissioned to write, direct and produce the next series of short films promoting Hotels and Restaurants. But with the Tampa mayoral race in full effect, the client thought it would be a good idea for GB to toss his triangle hat into the ring. I’m glad he did. You can view the rest of the series here.
ESPN “NCAA Tournament Challenge"
CO-DIRECTOR / WRITER
Who are you picking?" has to be the most common question spoken in the month of March. Rico Labbe and I thought the next best question to answer would be "How are you picking?". So, we came up with a concept that would celebrate the many ways people make their picks, and the role that the ESPN Tournament Challenge App plays in bringing it all together.
WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORTS “Resort Webisodes”
DIRECTOR / WRITER
I had a blast writing and directing this series of resort tour YouTube videos for Walt Disney World Resorts. Our goal for this project was to provide viewers a fresh view and helpful insider information about each of the resorts. We blended our new footage with existing resort and movie footage to create by far the most downloaded videos I've ever written and directed.
DAYTONA BEACH CVB “Beachside Vibe”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
This Daytona Beach CVB brand video was deemed too real for TV. The agency and client needed to get a new spot on air quickly, but didn’t have enough money for a large production. We spent two cold days on location capturing authentic footage of vacationers enjoying the Original American Beach. Although it never aired, I’m pretty darn proud of it.
SEMINOLE / ORLANDO NORTH SPORTS “Arrived”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
We filmed this spot on a hot Friday morning inside historic Sanford Memorial Baseball Stadium with a local travel baseball team. Our mission with the campaign “Arrived” was to connect with players, coaches and parents at an emotional level. Our concept was to portray the thoughts stirring inside an athlete’s mind at the moment of competitive truth. This was part of a larger ongoing campaign for Paradise Advertising and Seminole County / Orlando North Sports.
DESTIN CVB “Count On”
DIRECTOR
We spent three beautiful days (and one rainy one) filming the only Florida gulf coast known for its emerald green waters. This is one of seven spots produced as part of the “Count On” campaign for Aqua Communications and Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island. And yes, the dolphins are real.
MOTE MARINE LABORATORY & AQUARIUM
DIRECTOR / PRODUCER
Mote marine scientists at the Tropical Research Lab the Florida Keys have developed the world's most productive means to restore coral reef systems. Our team had the privilege of documenting their research, development and deployment efforts. This story is incredibly important to not only the well-being of our oceans, but the future of humanity.
DAYTONA BEACH CVB “Speedon’t”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
This fun spot was one of seven filmed in three days entirely on location in Daytona Beach. Our goal was to demonstrate the authenticity of the area by producing TV spots, content videos and ads that celebrate the notion that Daytona Beach is the Original American Beach. It resulted in a demonstratable rise in brand awareness, tourism and the one clients love the most: average daily hotel rates.
GOOD MORNING AMERICA “Jumpstart January”
DIRECTOR / WRITER
Okay, this was an awesome production. I had the pleasure of writing the script then working with the entire GMA team and small group of actors, directing them through some fun scenes, which resulted in a really cool spot with a meaningful purpose. The cameos by Heidi Klum and Robin Roberts were an awesome bonus.
SEMINOLE / ORLANDO NORTH SPORTS
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
Three years after producing campaign videos promoting baseball, tennis and soccer in Orlando North/Seminole County, we were finally able to dodge the rain, lightning and the hectic schedule of a Florida July and shoot this awesome short film for Paradise Advertising and Orlando North Sports.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH “Like a Local”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
The first time our team visited New Smyrna Beach, we said this place feels like a Wes Anderson film. So, we created this mellowed-out spot for Paradise Advertising and New Smyrna Beach CVB featuring locals encouraging visitors to vacatione here like you live here.
WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY “Rise”
DIRECTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
This spot was produced as part of a campaign for WKU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. For the script, I took the inspirations of an athlete and wrote them as a poem. Then, we had a dope beat poet spit the rhymes for us. In the edit we blended intense shots with disruptive and sometimes unexpected hand-drawn graphics .
ESPN | 2003 NFL PRO BOWL TEASE
WRITER | CO-DIRECTOR
Three days of filming. Two days of editing. One amazing Pro Bowl week in Honolulu with 19 Pro Bowlers, Terry Tate "Reebok Office Linebacker", and the one and only Don Ho.
GMC NATIONAL TV SPOT “Workshop
WRITER
This was the first major TV spot I ever had produced. I was so nervous I had a pre-game puke on the first day of filming. It was filmed inside a ship-building warehouse in Toronto by The Producers. Two of our elves brought their own prosthetic ears leftover from their roles in the Tim Allen movie, The Santa Clause. It was the Fall of 1995, and by the time the production was completed I realized I wanted to become a director.
